AMR and governance One Health: new EU interagency group

The representatives of the interagency One Health task force – which includes ECDC, EMA, EFSA, EEA, and ECHA – met in Brussels with officials from the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) and other offices of the European Commission to improve institutional collaboration on One Health.
During the meeting, an inter-agency working group on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) was announced to enhance the structured exchange of data, evidence, and operational strategies on antimicrobial resistance in Europe. AMR was at the center of the discussion, seen as a cross-cutting challenge that requires integration between human, animal, and environmental health.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of the One Health task force action framework, following the opinion of the Scientific Advice Mechanism on One Health governance in the EU. The agencies and Commission services discussed how to implement the six strategic recommendations, emphasizing the importance of an intersectoral approach to address complex health threats.
