Webinar 1: Analysing Patient and Caregiver Needs: Understanding and addressing the emotional, physical, and practical support (including information) requirements for patients with dementia and frailty, as well as their caregivers.
In the EU, dementia prevalence in people over 60 increased from 5.9 million in 2000 to about 9.1 million in 2018. However, behind the words “dementia” and “frailty”, one can find very different clinical conditions. Furthermore, the personal and social environment plays here a critical role. Every person with dementia is thus unique and would thus require a personalised approach to his needs. Starting with the patients, we will explore the solutions proposed and viewpoints of all main actors who can make a difference: social and healthcare professionals, industry, policymakers and researchers.
During this first webinar COMFORTage will analyse the needs of patients and caregivers by:
- summarising findings from an extensive literature review and hearing the views of professionals and projects;
- learning from the experience of patients and carers associations reflecting on the different types and phases of neurodegenerative diseases;
- discussing interactively and highlighting the nuances between the most important needs, desires, and fears of the people affected.
